Dr Graichen obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1979 and his Doctorate of Medicine from Tufts University in 1983.
From 1987 to 1990 Dr. Graichen was an Ophthalmology resident at the USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
In 1991 he completed a fellowship in Ophthalmic Pathology at Baylor College in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Graichen received an additional fellowship in Vitreoretinal Disease and Surgery at the University of Illinois in Chicago, Illinois in 1992. From 1992 to 1994 he was a staff vitreoretinal surgeon at the USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
In 1994 Dr. Graichen joined Associated Eyecare and has been instrumental in bringing state of the art treatments for macular degeneration and other retinal disorders to southern Maine and New Hampshire.
He was the first physician in York county to offer Macugen®, a breakthrough therapy for cases of macular degeneration that were previously untreatable with laser therapy.
